Reliance Jio to soon offer 6 series numbers to the customers

Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio has been allotted 60010-60019 MSC code in Rajasthan, 60020-60029 MSC code in Assam and 60030-60039 in Tamil Nadu. This notification from telecom department's access service wing will allow the 4G entrant to offer new mobile number beginning with "6".



The first numbering plan was introduced in 1993 followed by revised plan in 2003 keeping in view growth of telecom subscriber. India's telecom subscriber base grew to 1.2 billion in November 2016 due to large number of addition by Reliance Jio. Currently all the mobile numbers start with 7,8 and 9 are exhausting soon. Hence the new 6 series number is being introduced to cater to the fast growing telecom subscriber base in India.




The Department of Telecom has assigned "0" number to STD access and "1" number for emergency numbers like Police, ambulance etc.
